Induction Information
Before your child starts at Summerhill's Little treasures we recommend that you visit us to meet the staff team. Induction packs including care plans and consent forms will be given to all new parents to complete so that staff have an overview of your child’s likes/ dislikes, medical needs, allergies, etc before they start with us.
Each child will be allocated a key worker once they have settled. This person will become your child’s main carer until they are ready to progress to the next aged room. The key worker will be the main point of contact for parents. It is important to us that children feel safe and happy in the absence of their parents and recognise our staff as a source of help and friendship as well as authority. We understand that children cannot play or learn successfully if they are anxious or unhappy.
Your child’s key worker will work with you to meet the needs of your child and offer total support for as long as it takes to settle your child. Parent's Evening sessions are arranged twice a year to provide opportunities for you to discuss your child with their key worker. This is an opportunity for you, the parent/carer to get to know your child’s key worker and ask any questions you may have.
Our 'settling in' procedures aim to help both parents/carers and children feel comfortable and happy. Trial sessions can be booked to help your child settle into the setting and these sessions also offer a chance to help settle your child over time, gradually withdrawing parents/carers from the environment as the children familiarise themselves with staff. Please liaise with the setting to arrange these sessions.
